Guest dnoz
I have the engine apart on my 1913 Buick Model 25. Is there a source for any of the gaskets needed for reassembly? Any help appreciated.David NozneskyHobe Sound, FL1913 Buick Model
ILIKECARS53
you can try Olsen's gaskets or best gaskets there are a few others out there but i have used the ones mentioned with success
DonMicheletti
Since there is no head gasket, you can just make them yourself. It is a PITA, but probably a whole lot cheaper.Gasket material should be available at a good auto parts store or there is always Mc Master- Carr
Mark Shaw
David, The only gaskets used on these older engines with jugs are for the timing cover & manifold gaskets usually made of bonded copper; & Olsen's has them. The copper seal rings on the cage valves are actually machined with a taper on one side that matches the taper of the cages. The cage valve rings are reusable if you clean them well. Do not use gaskets on the bottom of the jugs. Almost any soft material used there will make it easier to break the jug mounting lugs. The best option is cotton kite string with a very thin coating of RTV or Permatex sealant. The area between the vented crank case and the jugs is not a high leakage area and does not require much of a seal anyway.
trimacar
A gasket between jugs and crankcase is not a problem, but should be made of paper thin material...literally, a sheet of notebook paper works....
