Guest mikeburch
I have this unique pair of period made lamps. They are made from six (6) NOS Packard Radiator Caps. Were they made by Packard or did some ingenious person make them from the dead stock of a closing dealership ???????With a little repairing, you could have six mint Packard Radiator Caps. Each cap has had some drilling.Polish, wire them, put on some shades and use them in your Packard room.I'm asking $200.00 for the pair plus $10.00 Priority Mail Postage.CLICK ON PHOTOS TO ENLARGEmikeburch
Dave Mitchell
The Packard service letters instruct the dealers on how to make these to use up the standard caps and ornaments left when dealers sold deluxe ornaments. The shade was a Packard hub cap which clamped to the bulb.

HH56
I suppose the pieces are full of holes and no longer in play but if they were reusable for the original purpose I wonder which would be more valuable now -- the lamp or the cap. From Feb 15, 1939 service letter. Dave Mitchell
Mike, I have one also, but they are very rare, and fun to have if you are a Packard guy. They tend to be different, so your matched set is a little unusual and certainly fairly priced.

I would have liked to have kept and restored them, but just didn't have the time or, really, a place to put them. If I was a Packard guy, I would have kept them, for sure. They went to an antiaue car, dealer, shop, for the owner's desk.I found them in an antique shop, marked as a pair of "Art Deco" bedroom lights.I thought that mine were uniaue, but I learned, not.Thank you, mikeburch
JFranklin
I have a very similar item made up of 6 new 1936 standard Chevrolet hood ornaments and a hubcap base. Maybe they knew some Packard guys! Edited July 24, 2014 by JFranklin (see edit history)
