Pete Phillips
I'm restoring a 1958 Ambassador 4-dr. hardtop station wagon. It needs a new windshield. I'm not certain what other years and body styles interchange with this, but I hope some do, otherwise I'm searching for a needle in a haystack. All leads appreciated, new or used.Pete PhillipsSherman, TXpphillips922@earthlink.net
Pontiac59
I believe all of the big Rambler wraparound windshields are all the same, but if anyone has a Hollander they can doublecheck that. Hardtop may differ from post version. Unfortunately the only one I was aware of went to scrap last fall.
Pete Phillips
Pontiac59,Thanks for the hint. I'm afraid this AMC/Nash forum is just about dead, except for you and me.Pete
Pontiac59
If you get stuck finding one there is one more local guy I can check; his dad collected cars and never crushed, so he still has like a dozen 57-65 Ramblers floating around. I wanted to cut one up and reskin an S-10 with it -
Pete Phillips
I found out that sedans, wagons, and hardtops have the same windshield, 1958-1959, Rambler or Ambassador. And I will need the rubber seal, too. All the ones around here (Texas) are well baked and cracked. 59Pontiac, I would appreciate it if you would check your lead, or give me the contact info, and I'll check. All leads appreciated. Many thanks. Also need a '58 Ambassador gas tank cap, with the Ambassador ribbed aluminum trim on it.Pete
Guest northpacific
I had a '58 Ambassador Hardtop sedan when I was a kid, and my gascap had a big scripted "R" on it... Sorry, I don't have a pictureLove your Wagon, the Hardtops are rare indeed!NP
MikesWoodieWorld
Pete, If you are still looking for a windshield, I have one from a 1957 Wagon. It sure looks the same, but I am not sure if it will fit. It is a nice used one. Mike
ProSource
Let me know if you need, we should be able to provide new ones, that is our specialty- all types of automobile glass.. new, repro and NOS. I realize the thread is pretty old but I know how many folks buy glass they don't use for years.. Richard
Pete Phillips
Thanks for the leads, but yes, this is an old thread (4 years ago) and I found another windshield in the meantime, plus the elusive windshield rubber seal.Pete Phillips
