Rear View CLOCK MIRROR, Decals, Dash and Bumper Plaques....help!

Back in the 50 / 60's my dad was in the Model A club (owned 3 A's). All parts etc are gone, but I do have a couple of things that may have value, and if they do I need some help in determining that value please. May want to keep or may sell.....

I have this very exceptional / very nice / almost hard to find any better , Rear View CLOCK MIRROR. Has a New Haven mechanical clock (exceptional dial and hands)on the right side of the mirror. The stem or crown of the clock will not wind...have not forced it. I know this has value as a kid in approx 1960 I broke one of two that he had, and back then I was reminded more than once how rare they were and much money I had cost him . Anyway, has anyone an idea of value if I were to put it on ebay please?

Next I have two 60's era "Model A Ford Club of America" orange and black decals with a black coupe pictured and made by Adco Decalcomania Company in California (instructions and company name on the back). One decal is perfect , where the other is missing a 1/4" of a black on the oval circle that emcompasses the decal. Same, is there any value please?

Next is a green baked painted brass, approx 2 X 3 retangular dash plaque of apparentely a meet or something. It reads "Potomac Chapter, Model A Ford CLub of America on the top, IN THE MIDDLE IS A BIG FARM HOUSE WITH AN OUT BUILDING, then on the bottom it reads...EARL SHADE FARM, WINCHESTER, VA. 1959. Again any value please?

And lastly, a very nice white and black MODEL "A" CLUB ...FORD... OF AMERICA on top,.... with 1928 1929 on one side, 1930 1931 on the other side, OVAL (steel I guess) bumper or license plate mount (single attaching horseshoe style mount) plaque. Worth putting on ebay please?

I may just keep these as momentoes or sell. Any help will be greatly appreciated...thanks,

Nic

I am off of the Reatta forum, and you can PM me, or send an email to jnicwalker@aol.com thanks

Opps, as an afterthought...or one more question...I have a 1950's top and bottom SNAP ON Tool Box....in used and very nice condition other than 50 some years of use (paint chips, scratches, dull and tarnished paint etc...no dents or any dentrimental damage). Would this be of value for someone with a vintage garage type of situation?

Did I post the above on the wrong forum...I looked for a Ford Model A sell forum and didn't see one? Can someone help me out here please. PM me if I have done something wrong by posting this and you don't want to reply on the forum please...

Thanks,

The Model A Ford forum here is not terribly active. I try to check it daily, but did not have the time to reply to you until today. I am relatively certain that the clock mirror is an aftermarket accessory. As to Ebay value, which is what you were asking, I checked completed listings on Ebay and found 3 similar clocks in similar condition that recently sold on Ebay, by searching for "mirror clock model a ford"in completed listings. The three sold for $52.50, $125, and $182.50. If I had one and wanted to sell it, I would list it at a $9.99 starting price describe it well, and post good quality photos and I would anticipate getting anywhere from $50 to $200 for it. So, if you want to sell it, you can do likewise or you can keep it as a momento, or better yet, buy a Model A to put it in! It is yours to do with as you see fit.

I can't seem to locate any recent activity on Model A Ford Club of America decals, but since you can buy the same or similar decals today, I doubt they are worth much.

Old show dash plaques don't normally sell for a whole lot of cash. I would keep them as momentos.

Tool boxes are usually in demand regardless of age. You would probably do better selling it locally due to shipping charges. Good luck and don't give up on Model A Fords due to lack of forum replys. A lot of the owners of Model A's are older and not as comfortable with computers as the owners of the Buicks that you are used to dealing with.

Mr. Hinson,

Thank you very much sir for the very kind and informative reply...it took time to research and write....Greatly Appreciated! I really liked the part about obtaining a Model A to go along with the mirror . Actually, one of the three Model A's my father had back in the 1960's was supposedly for me, but the car and the dream never materialized for one reason or the other. If it were't for restrictions such as human age (no spring rooster here .... either ) and a disability, I could very possibly and easily become interested in an "A"....

Again, Thanks,

Nic

Opps, NOt trying to be a pest here, but one item above may have been missed.

I will keep the decals and dash plaque as suggested. Not sure about the clock mirror as yet...it would look nice in one of my curio cabinents, but maybe it would help with a new Teves system for the Reatta....time will tell .

The one item that I think was missed is the Model A club bumper plate....would that possibly have collector value please?

It is a black and white (white background) Oval (of course ), about 3-3/4" X 5 1/4" "Model "A" Club of America metal plate with a single license plate or bumper mounting bolt "U" Mount at the bottom of the oval. It has the dates of assembly on the sides...1928, 1929 on one side and 1930, 1931 on the other. I promise there will be no more pestering Mr. Hinson .

Thanks again,

Nic

I seem to remember seeing something like that before, but I can't seem to find any details on it right now. I would think that it might have some potential as an Ebay item, or something to post in the buy and sell forum right here. I don't really have much idea of its value, sorry that I can't be more help on this item. Good luck.

Bought and received the early 60s vintage "MAFCA" plaque from Nic. It was as described, a nice older tag topper design in blue and white with the perfect patina to go with my 30+ year old restoration. Thanks Nic, always happy when something is "as described" - generally the case with "regulars" on this forum or Ford Barn.

"A lot of the owners of Model A's are older and not as comfortable with computers as the owners of the Buicks that you are used to dealing with."

OUCH! That hurt.... Some of us 'old timers' are still actually not only using the thing called a PC but build them for other old timers.

Anyway... Nic. I'd go to the MAFCA home page (a link is listed here on AACA). Most of those threads are looked at on a daily basis. I've been a member now for 'mumble mumble' years. I've seen the mirror clock you're talking about for many different prices depending on the manufacturer. I have 2 myself. One in my 'A' and one in the "to do" rebuild bin. Some were actually just a pocket watch inside the metal tin glued to the mirror. Because resilvering the mirror itself can get pretty expensive, it's condition will make a big difference in what you can get for the clock also.

HeyPop, did not mean to hurt you there , but I know quite a lot of Model A owners who don't like computers. I also know some Model A Owners who DO know their way around a computer.

I really like the MAFCA site, but it does not get updated that often. It is a great site with lots of nice stuff, but you don't have to check it every day (even though I do) to keep up.

The MARC site is another that I have been to lately, but I don't really like the constant spam on their supposedly "New and Improved", No sign in required, discussion forum. I attempted to suggest a different easy to use discussion forum software to the webmaster and he told me that most of their members were in their 70's and did not want to have to remember passwords.
