DaveB
Hi All, Have posted this with the list and thought I would put it here too. My wife and I are looking for photos of 69 Riv's with original or repainted code 77(Antique Gold). Our car has been repainted black and we are currently engaged in a domestic debate over what color to paint it.We have found several pic's and think they are code 77 by comparing them to the paint chart. However we have thus far been unable to get verifacation that they are indeed true code 77 or it's modern equivelent....Thanks!! 68RIVGS
Hi Dave -Sorry I don't have any pics for you, but my '69 Colour & Trim Manual shows an Antique Gold (Code Z)swatch, and it is not listed as a 'Riviera only' exclusive colour. This Gold is quite dark compared to the other '69 Buick gold metallics, Trumpet Gold (Code G), or Champagne Mist (Code S).The only gold metallic listed as a 'Riviera only' exclusive colour is Embassy Gold (Code J), and it appears to have a much higher gold content than the Antique Gold (Code Z) swatch. You might be able to sort it out by checking a '69 Buick C&T Dealer Manual? Not sure how Code 77 paint ties in - not trying to confuse, just trying to help ! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Guest Riviera66
Code 77 is Antique Gold, Code Z. '69 is the start of the transition from letter codes to number codes for paint so you kind of need to know both.Darwin Falk1966-70 ROA Technical Advisor
dkbuick75
Dave,My '69 GS is in Embassy Gold w/blk vinyl top and int. It is an Original, Unrestored car. Still wearing her Original Laquer finish from 69. I can send you a photo or 2 if you want to see what the combination and the Embassy Gold looks like. Seems to shade differently in different lighting. From a deep, rich Gold in bright sun to a soft Light Brown/Bronze in shade or twilight.Don AdamsPast-DirectorChicagoland Chapter/BCAROA # 10055BCA # 219571969 Riviera GS 494871998 Riviera SC 4GD071975 LeSabre convt 4BP671997 Skylark Cpe 4NJ372007 Pontiac Solstice
