Guest imported_Mark K
Fabulous!!I am thinking of doing this with my '90. If someone comes up with a procedure, please post it.Mark
Rawja
Tommy, how is the volume level? It has been stated that the volume with a direct splice is fairly low as the tape player has comparatively more amplification than (whatever the device in question was).I presently have my iPod connected via a cassette tape adapter with the wiring running concealed by the trim plates, but would welcome the opportunity to eliminate the cassette adapter if the sound was good. Guest TommyH
i have to turn the volume up almost all the way on my mini. i am looking for the home meade headphone amp on hackaday.com, but i dont have a lot of time to do it. but it need an amp, unless you want to kill your ipod battery(mines not good to begin with) so i will try to look today, and post it.thanks for asking
manikmekanik
Y'all should consider using a wireless FM modulator, for iPod link!Excellent post, Tommy! This will be valuable to anyone who wants an AUX input at Tape input impedance levels, like oh, sound output from a computing device of some sort, maybe in the trunk, or somewhere; where someone could store music files "en masse", or even talk thru the car's audio system, (w/mike added to computing device!), to anyone in the WORLD, using Skype, or something like that.Phil? You there yet? I know you'd be the closest to accomplishing something even remotely like this! (Poke-poke!) <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />As for Video, the need would be a new touch-screen, run by a computing device, with added proprietary card installed to pass info to & from the car's systems. An on-screen button would allow access to car's data and system functions.Easier bet would be to ixnay the stock cassette, and install your new LCD screen below the original. Guest TommyH
you will probably want an amp, to meet the tape output levels, here is a simple one, that most people could biuld in a matter of hours. i am grounded, so i cant buy the stuff to make it, but here is the link minty-amp
Vincent Vega
Very Cool TommyH! I believe the tape deck output is amplified. Looks like you are using the tape deck input to the radio. If you could locate and tap into the tape inputs to the internal tape deck amp it would not need further amplification.
Guest TommyH
yeah i know, but i cant take the tape deck apparte, cuz i had a D in photography, long story. and i think i will make the amp,but not right now.
Vincent Vega
Take care of school first. The photography teacher must like you. If not, you would have gotten an F. I regret not taking school seriously when I was in HS. Classic underacheiver.

dwaddell
Neat! Unfortunately, it won't work for those without the CRT center. If the radio has the CD player connector on the back, the left and right audio inputs are available at that connector. However, the CD player talks to the radio over the E&C bus to tell the radio to switch to auxilliary inputs. There is no button to press on the radio. (Radio is model 16123363, CD is model 16085394.) Anyone been able to figure out the messages that have to go over the E&C bus between the CD player and radio? Delphi refuses to divulge the characteristics of the bus and the manuals on the radio don't give a clue. I don't have the equipment to reverse engineer the bus activity.I'm thinking that if I can find out what messages to send and build an interface unit, I can substitute anything I want for the CD player - like a changer with its own remote control or an iPod.Also, the radio has a voice input. It could be used for non-stero inputs - like my ham radio.Don
RayS
I have a 88 with a cd changer installed it was in the car when i got it. I will look and see how it was installed and get pics. and post on what I find
