Wheel and Hub Guides copyrightTXu-318-432

Actually, this looks like a pretty good idea. I'm amazed at how much shorter the lugs are now and how much heavier wheels and tires have become over the years! I just had a hard time putting the wheels back on my ('41 Zephyr) parts car after harvesting the brakes and backing plates.

I usually cheat a little by letting the car down just enough so I can roll the wheel up next to the hub and slip it on without any heavy lifting.

Rolf, to answer your question, the guide screws on to the Hub Lug, and

has the NF20 thread same as the lug.and still has a clearance of.0138

around the wheel hole with the conical shape which centers the wheel

on the hub. Attached is the 2 guides used in sliding the wheel off

and or putting it back on.The remaing Lug nuts can be installed with

the guides in place. The guides then can be unscrewed by hand and the

2last nuts installed and wheel torqued in place.

Putting the wheel back on is faster then using only one as you don't

have slightly rotate the wheel my hand, probably Ok for the younger guy's ha!
