My 1968 cutlass has a two speed jetaway transmission in it and I would like to know if the two speed jetaway is the same as the GM two speed power glide? Also, is the model number for the jetaway transmission TH300? Thank you. Tim

Actually, to be completely correct the Jetaway is called the Super Turbine 300 (ST300) and was used in Buicks and Pontiacs as well as Oldsmobiles. Only a few parts are interchangeable with the Powerglide.

What causes the whine, while in neutral or park?

I have a '63 Starfire that does that. Is that

considered normal? What causes that?

Thanks

I know your right! According to the shop manual

on the '63 Olds in the Hydra-Matic section under

noise diagnosis:

Buzzing noise...

(possible causes)

1)T.V. valves

2)Governor

3)Pressure regulator valve

Mine buzzes. And that's how I know it's working good. I changed the filter last year and it didn't seat properly, so it wasn't pulling fluid out of the pan. No buzzing. Also no gears. So I drained it, took a BFH to the filter to get it seated, and started to refill it. I knew I was OK when it started buzzing...
