manikmekanik Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 While cruzin' Muskegon, MI last week, we spotted a Maui blue coupe approaching, and the next instant, a Claret parked in a Mfg. facility, near downtown. The only 2 we saw all week, as we covered most of the western shore of Michigan. The High-Speed Ferry from Milwaukee was FAST!! Powered by 4 large water-jets, we got accross Lake Michigan in 2.5 hours, in 4-6 ft. seas! Fully loaded with cars and people, it was an interesting experience.
Guest HessLakeGuy Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 The Badger is the old school ship (still operating) about sixty miles north of Muskegon. It is out of Ludington, MI, which is a great place to be in the summer. Some people take the new ship out of Muskegon, some like the old one. I guess the new one can have some really sick people in high seas. It seems busy, which is good.We are taking the old style Badger back from the National meet in Minnesota. One trip thru Chicago is enough.Muskegon area is where I store most of my cars. I will have to try to find those cars you saw. Tom
89REATTAJIM Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Interesting. We left Tampa 6/27 for Chicago & arrived back in Tpa 7/5 P.M. Put px 2.5k miles on the Bonne. Didn't see a Reatta anywhere. No car problems on the whole trip, but went thru Orlando on the way home & car was trying to steer toward Padgett's house.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Y'all could have seen my S/C coupe and the Sixty heading from Mancelona back to Dimondale today But the Badger is cool. Last coal fired ship operating in North America
Guest tomt Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Randy:I think I'll try the Milwaukee boat. What is cost for car and people, and reservation information.
manikmekanik Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 We spent as much time on the road as we did off-road!The sand dunes are a blast, if you have a sand-rail to enjoy them!
JWC Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Been there, done that, and I am now rebuilding another sand rail to do it all over again...............just not as young as I use to be.
