The Military Restorers Group is very active and probably your best bet. Check out these vehicles in the "...in Action" books that highlight certain ships, planes, troops, and vehicles from WWII in the bookstore.

Here is the initial response from my JEEPNUT friend:

"As best as I can remember - it's ALL OD Green!! At least mine was when I got it. The distributer, carb, wires and 24V lights were about the only thing not MilGreen:-) In the early 50's they didn't have CAD coatings and steel tube rusted so it was all primered and painted. Most brake lines were rubber since steel was needed to build ships and armor. If he contacts, I have some great military resto sites to turn him to." padams@LCE.com
