Guest trevor ward
Hi guys, It seems that the AC plugs which i need for my '64 300 CI 4 bbl motor ( AC44FFS) have been superceded by a more up to date part number/product I think i am right in saying that i now require the AC 45S ??? but am not sure! Would anybody be able to put me straight on this??? I need to buy these as soon as possible so i look forward to hearing back Also...is AC the brand to opt for, or would i be better off with another, such as champion???? And while i am here.....what about the plug lead color??? what is "correct"...???? Thanks in advance.. Trevor...... '64 Le Sabre
The Old Guy
I believe the 44FFS has quite a bit longer thread area than a 45S. Take one of your plugs out and compare it to something in the Champion line. I prefer ACs also, but they have stopped producing most of the older plugs. Mrbuick714
The "FF" indicates longer threads.Whe we came out with the aluminum engine.we recommended longer threads wherever you involved aluminum. I have seen "non FF" plugs strip out. I have 7 nos AC FF plugs.Ralph Crisp BCA 2399
rocketraider
These plugs also occasionally show up on ebay... I've found them when searching "NOS Olds*" as they were also used on the 61-63 215s.
NTX5467
AC-Delco has a website that also has a parts lookup section in it for many of their automotive items. NGK, Champion, Autolite, etc. all have similar websites with parts lookup areas. Many ALSO have related pages on how to decode their spark plug part number designations (which the AC-Delco paper catalog is somewhat lacking in with their more modern paper catalogs, from what I've seen in trying to cross over the 41-series plugs to prior plug part numbers). Some of those decoding pages might be a little complex to decipher, but there's a good bit of information in them too.Seems like I've seen some parts vendors that might also advertise NOS/discontinued spark plugs too.Enjoy!NTX5467
