Hello Peter,

Here is a photo of awheel/axle/whatever remover. It weighs in at 16.6 lbs. If possible, I would like to know what it is called, and when and what is was used for.

Thanks for your help.

Yup, it's a wheel puller.

Real handy for Mopar Owners with the tapered rear axle set-up.

Attached is a picture of a similar tool in use!

I have one just like it. Most Studebakers had tapered axles and this tool is a must if you want to remove a rear brake drum. My puller is made by Blue Point, which is Snap-on. Yours may be also.

I too have one of these, that was scavenged on a clean-out of an old body shop that was being razed.

This particular puller is better than any ones I've seen currently produced.

It is a must for any car/truck whose rear brake drum is held to the axle with a castle nut & cotter pin.

This would include:

Any MoPar made before 1963,

Hudson

Nash/Rambler/AMC

Studebaker

Willys & Jeep -pre 1970

International

Ford/Lincoln/Mercury; pre-1949

Some Caddys

Others ?

Clean it up, lubricate as necessary, and enjoy !
