Peter Gariepy
From: <coach@bluefrog.com> Hello Peter,Here is a photo of awheel/axle/whatever remover. It weighs in at 16.6 lbs. If possible, I would like to know what it is called, and when and what is was used for. Thanks for your help.Chas DelPlato of Western, NY
Dave@Moon
Looks to me like a brake drum puller for drums w/ attached studs, possibly for a heavy-duty truck chassis. Are the "legs" adjustable for differing bolt pattrns?
Guest boettger
Yup, it's a wheel puller.Real handy for Mopar Owners with the tapered rear axle set-up.Attached is a picture of a similar tool in use!
Mika Jaakkola
Yes, I have used this kind of pullers in my cars (rear brake drum) and other MOPARS. I don't know if the one in the pic "is too heavy-duty" for Imperial, but I don't think so.
Guest imported_GeorgeCagle
I have one just like it. Most Studebakers had tapered axles and this tool is a must if you want to remove a rear brake drum. My puller is made by Blue Point, which is Snap-on. Yours may be also. Guest DeSoto Frank
I too have one of these, that was scavenged on a clean-out of an old body shop that was being razed. This particular puller is better than any ones I've seen currently produced. It is a must for any car/truck whose rear brake drum is held to the axle with a castle nut & cotter pin. This would include:Any MoPar made before 1963,HudsonNash/Rambler/AMCStudebakerWillys & Jeep -pre 1970InternationalFord/Lincoln/Mercury; pre-1949Some CaddysOthers ?Clean it up, lubricate as necessary, and enjoy !
