1948 DeSoto Custom 2 Dr Coupe - $15,000

Recommended Posts

Long term ownership is a big plus, but the price seems pretty high given condition. Why would anyone want to nickel-plate a carburetor?  (more pics in ad)

Hello, I have a beautiful classic 1948 DeSoto Custom rare 2 door coupe for sale. It has been in our family for close to 60 years and unfortunately as a car family we just have too many projects. Overall, it is in fantastic shape with a clean interior and only a couple minor dings. Astetically it really just needs a new paint job.
It has a rebuilt 4.1 L straight 6 cyl from the 1951-52 model, with an Edmunds aluminum performance head and dual nickel-plated weber 2 barrel carbs. It’s running but the fuel pump is currently leaking. The brakes are complete but aren’t working. It has a 4 speed automatic fluid drive transmission.
The registration is current and only has 126,000 miles on her. The engine has an estimated 50k.
The 2 door coupes are quite rare, I am hoping to find someone who can give it the love it deserves. I am asking $15,000 OBO. If interested, please send me a message. Thank you!

From the looks of the paint under the gas cap I'd say this might have been hauling something other gasoline in the tank at one time. Might explain the engine modifications.
