Leif in Calif
Not completely original, but I like it! (much more text and pics in ad) Possibly the husband has passed.... https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/d/san-diego-1941-chevrolet/7712575622.html My husband, Jerry Mambretti did most of the restoration I have receipts, invoices, records and a 12x12 coffee table photo book I made that document what he did. I also have 5 boxes of original parts along with extra upholstery material. The car has all original gauges and radio. The radio was converted to 12 volts. It has all new wiring, new front and rear glass, rebuilt early turn signals Jeep blackout lights and taillights and a 1986 Jeep Wagoneer rear end. We chose this rear end because it has the same lug pattern as the original wheels. The suspension was rebuilt in Los Angeles. The 235 ci engine is out of our daughter’s 1955 Chevy. The headliner and sun visors are from LeBarron Barney in Mass. Other than the military brake and blackout lights, it is in its original configuration. TerryB
Neat car, hope the daughter doesn’t want the engine back😀. Not your typical restoration.
classiclines
Unfortunately, for WW2 and older vehicles, there is a decreasing population of veterans with an interest in, ability to own and regularly drive such a car. And, in my experience, most veterans want to drive what they used in the service, so jeeps and trucks (and ambulances) seem to have a larger following. Looks like a lot of pride and attention to detail went into trying to keep this vehicle looking like it did when it was in service. To all veterans... thank you for your service!
