1940 Buick ? $4,000 Not Mine

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what model this is?  Sidemounts on a 1940 Buick?  No photos of the engine, but could this be a Model 81 or so?  I am kind of guessing because I no longer know my model numbers by heart.

However, I thought 1940 was the 1st year for a Super 4 door which - for lack of a better comparison - emulated the Cadillac 60S, with a thick B Pillar, and true trunk, like the Roadmaster.  So the sellers odd description of it being a 1940 Super 8 Limited is confusing.   What do you experts think this car is?

Rear window is split. So a GM C body - Series 80 Roadmaster or series 90 Limited.  Guessing its a model 81 Roadmaster with 320 cu engine.

With sellers comment "I DONT HAVE TO SELL. NOT COMING OFF THE PRICE " expect it will not sell and continue to deteriorate being outside..  Rust showing in places. 95% of the rust will not be showing.

Thank you.  Yes I know it’s a mess and this is a typical stupid seller on Facebook marketplace but it’s kind of fun to still be finding these cars.   What’s the wheelbase?   Sure would be nice to see the data plate.   1st thing I would do is dump that stupid gas tank.

It is a 40 Buick 80 series limited sedan. In 1939 the Roadmaster was the 80 series. In 1940 the roadmaster became the 70 series sedan with the super body and a bit longer front end for the big motor. I have owned these cars all my life and I still own 12 Buicks.
