As the recipient of a complete restoration in the 1980s, this rare and stylish Model 236 Runabout Roadster still presents in excellent condition throughout. In a previous owner’s care for the past 16 years, it was stored in a temperature-controlled environment and regularly maintained by an on site mechanic.

Lifting the bonnet reveals a tidy engine bay, to show standards and a little patina to some of the finishes. Mechanically, the car runs well and is ideal for enjoyment on scenic drives or touring with enthusiast clubs.

Nice looking '26 Packard Roadster.

 

Take a look at the speedometer on the PreWarCar site. Says Tesla Patent Dec. 1916. Had never seen this before. Didn't know Nikola Tesla designed and patented speedometers as well.

 

Just took a look at Tesla's speedometer patent and Tesla used a viscous temperature compensation liquid (mercury) rather than magnetism to drive the speed indicator.

It's a toss-up which is the most desirable sporting model 1925-'26 Packard 236; either this Body Style No. 234 Runabout or the Body Style No. 246 Sport Touring.  The 357.8 ci 85hp Straight eight in the lightest chassis, plus the rakish sporting looks!
