My dads car

Hello - can anyone identify my dads car?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dad had a 1949 Olds 76 series sedanet.

I thought it was an Oldsmobile- thanks! Now I need to find one to hotrod.  He was a mechanic before and while in the Marines so now I know why I am the way I am.  Died when I was 3 though.

So this was a fastback? What’s the difference between a 76 and a 88?

The 76 was the entry level car.

A 76 has a flathead six engine and an 88 has the Rocket V8. There are some minor trim differences, an 88 would have a chrome die cast Futuramic trim plate on the bottom of the front fender as part of the rocker panel moulding. There would also be 88 numerals either right behind the front wheelwell opening or on top of the sides of the rear quarters near the taillights depending on exactly when the car was built. The trunk would have a Rocket 88 emblem on the left side as well. There may be a few other things too!
