Rick Fraser
Hi guys, just wanted some opinions on coolant. I read that Glycol can be corrosive and was concerned about leaving it for long periods of time, so I drain it before winter. I don't really need therefore the anti freeze component but also don't think straight water is a good idea because of rusting. What do you think or do with your cars? Thanks, Rick. JFranklin
anti-freeze will not hurt things if used as directed. It is old used stuff you heard about. If you are not worried about freeze you can add just water and soluble oil/ waterpump lubricant.
pre1939chrysler
A lot of the 20s Chryslers I have parted had water jacket covers that were severely rooted. It wasn't uncommon for salt water and alcohol to be used.
