robinswheels
Cleaning out my parents garage came across these. The box says Superior High Performance Custom Wheels. There’s a partial sticker on one of the wheels that reads: —ECIAL - CHEVROLET - ______RO - CHEVELLE CHEVY 71 - EL CAMINO - OLDS F 85 - FIREBIRD - TEMPEST GTO SEE CATALOG FOR DISC BRAKES Any idea what year or model these would be or an approximate value? Also the box says aluminum mag wheels on one side and chrome on the other… is it both or just one? Thanks.
Mark Gregush
They just used the same box to ship either Mag or steel wheels in.
joe_padavano
Those are aftermarket chrome plated versions of the Chevy Rally wheels. It's hard to tell from your photos but they appear to be drum brake only. They also appear to have a lot more negative offset than stock (stock was near zero offset). This gives the "deep dish wheel" look popular in the 1960s but usually leads to tires rubbing on the fender lip as a result. Are they 14" or 15"? What width? The bolt pattern would be 5 x 4.75" if they fit Chevelle and F85.
robinswheels
Thanks. I’m not really sure how to measure, the diameter from the outermost rim is 15 1/4” would that make them 15” then? The width is 8”.
Oldtech
They would be 14s then. Size is measured bead to bead

The diameter and width are measured to the tire bead seating surfaces, not the outside lip.
