1964 Electra Convertible for sale Dual quads and buckets

This one has been for sale a while. With the buckets and dual quads one would think $39.5K is reasonable as compared to the two 64 Electras that sold on Bring a Trailer for $44K.

First John, thank you for providing the BaT auctions so we can compare.    That is crazy money for any 1960's convertible, $44,000?  I don't get it but whatever.

2nd, I owned and drove daily for 1 1/2 years, a 1964 Electra 425 2x4 convertible with a posi.  Fun car.  It was Red with a black interior (all leather, so no need to mention leather).

This one, to me, is far more desirable than the 2 BaT auctions.  The BaT cars are white and yellow.  This is a bad ass black with that lipstick red interior.    Add the buckets and console and all the usual power accessories and sure, $40,000 seems correct.

If the facebook marketplace car has been for sale for awhile then it has fallen into the facebook marketplace "jail" and he needs to properly market the car.  He could likely easily get $45,000 on BaT.

I know I am known as cheap, not willing to spend this kind of money.  But - I owned probably 20 1964 to 1972 convertibles and monitored the market for 30 years.  The full size ones, barring this kind of special 2x4 motor, etc, like the the 2 BaT comps you posted - a person should be able to buy a 2 - or 3 + for $15,000 - $25,000 all day long.

Might be a Pontiac, Buick, Mercury, Cadillac you fill in the blanks but there are a LOT out there.   Remember a beautiful 64 Mercury Park Lane I posted about 6 weeks ago for $25,000 or so?

The full size convertible simply languished for years.  I hope they continue to do well.  I have been in all kinds of convertibles, especially since I was a Mazda Master technician and did Miata work. I hate Miatas for delivering "convertible vistas".  I felt like I was in a tub.

But get in one of these full size convertibles and you are living.  So, yes, this one is properly priced for what it represents and how it is equipped.  The seller needs to do a better job of marketing.

Another 64 Electra just sold on BaT for $37,250. I thought this one was far nicer than the other two that sold for $44,000 and I believed the low mileage despite the extensive restoration work.  If you look at the bidding, you can see where it topped out in the high $20's with multiple bidders, but the final two bidders drove the price up.
