I am not at work tonight (Not on my favorites list here) but I think I have seen a site like Gates Rubber Co. that list interferance engines by make & model, they sell the belts you know.

I had a timing belt break on my son's honda Civic. That particular engine is an 'interference' engine. I replaced the belt, and it ran just fine. I would reccomend trying installing one then doing a compression test before you start taking it apart. The phrase means that the valves go into the combustion chamber far enough to be hit by the pistons if they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. a Honda mechanic assured me that indeed, my valves would be bent after the belt breaking, but, alas, he was wrong <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> Install a new belt and do a compression test, and just fire it up, you'll know right away.
