THANKS! That makes it very clear! There sure are a lot of red painted heads out there that don't have those labels. I had someone tell me that the roadsters came standard with them so didn't have the label, but I doubt it.

I'm no expert either.   I found that pic online today by typing in "Chrysler red head cylinder head".  That pic was from  a dealer selling the car.

45-50 years ago I had a 29 DeSoto roadster and found a red head for it at Hershey from a guy who bought it thinking it was for his 6 cylinder 29 Chrysler, but it only fit DeSoto engine.  My DeSoto head also had the same casted red head name in 2 places.

Back then I sent away to Chrysler Historical for 8x10 pics of 29 DeSoto roadsters.  One pic showed a new "early 29" roadster at the rail yard awaiting loading/shipping.  On the windshield was a large printed sign that only said RED HEAD. That means not all roadsters had red heads as far as DeSoto, but I bet Chrysler only offered it as optional (on all bodies),  not standard equipped.

You know all the BS stories that car owners dream up.  They make stuff up and actually believe it after a while.

It's easy to make stuff up with pre 1930 Chryslers, just try to find verification about anything.  Leif, there are previous posts regarding the red head syndrome, look for them......
