Were these used on 1927 Buicks?

Three of these were in a collection of parts that I bought for a 1927 Buick mod 27. I have not seen a picture of these on any vehicle.  Would anyone know if it was indeed a '27 part, and if not any idea of where it was used?

Looks to me like a tail / brake light housing assembly.  Is the rectangle on the edge a window for light to shine on a license plate?  I have no idea if it is a 1927 Buick part.

These were Buick accessory tail lights used after 1925. Yankee model 280A to replace the standard  single unit. (See David Chambers article Antique Automobile March-April 1971 pages 47,48,49.

 I have a very nice unit but is missing the 2 beehive lens. A friend made up the plastic BUICK lens insert. Many years ago they were available from "BOB'S".

dibarlaw   I presume one unit was used per car rather than on each side? Your pick would indicate one located inside the spare tire?   Mine do not have any lens or logo either.

Here is one as set up on a 1927 Sport Roadster that came equiped with a trunk rack and one side mount. And yes most cars came equiped with only LH tail lights up into the mid 1930s.

The owner of the Sport Roadster indicates he has a bunch of them (the Yankee 280A) if I needed a lens. Unfortunately his "get-around-to-it" takes years. There have been several on Ebay missing lens' and such for years with outrageous prices for not much more than the condition you show on yours.

dibarlaw  Thanks for the pics! I agree with you on ebay pricing - it is ridiculous in most cases.  I also have a contact that I can describe as you do in your last post - I don't have infinite time on my hands.  Maybe I will get lucky and find the lens in the stuff I have yet to look through.

As much as I like to see things like different colored lenses that were used in the past, people do not understand them today.  They do not understand basic hand signals either.  Consider that a 6 volt incandescent is also not very bright and there are better options out there with LED's.  A light on the left and the right though not period correct is what drivers are expecting.    Hugh
