wayne sheldon
I see a lot of four cylinder Cadillacs for sale. I can't recall ever seeing one as nice looking as this one! I wonder. Which way the car transferred in that poker game in Reno?

wayne sheldon
6 hours ago, Brass is Best said: The story says it went to a new owner. I never met William Harrah. I personally knew several people that knew him (and he knew THEM!). Several people that had been to his home on numerous occasions, had rare cars that Harrah was interested in, or helped Harrah with research into cars Harrah's team was restoring at the time (most notably a Gray). Several people told me that they would personally introduce me to William Harrah as soon as an opportunity arose. Then Bill Harrah died suddenly. Before William Harrah died, I met another fellow collector with a bit of a reputation in the hobby. I cannot offhand recall his name, but I had heard of him before I met him. We were at a collector car "Show and Sale", looking at various interesting cars, and started talking for awhile. He told me about knowing Bill Harrah well, and the private poker games held in VIP rooms at the casinos. Other people had also told me about these games earlier, but they were not really gamblers, this fellow was. He told me about several cars that he had lost to Bill Harrah in poker games back in the 1950s and 1960s, including one Duesenberg. He mentioned a couple other cars, but I don't remember what they were. I know that a lot of other people lost or won collector cars in poker games over the many decades. But it does make one wonder about the "poker game in Reno"?
