Laray
I have a recently acquired 1936 Lincoln Zephyr with mechanical brakes. I can't get the rear brake drums off. I have a good puller. Is there a specific procedure.
Rusty_OToole
They grow together when they have not been apart for 50 years or more. You need a really good puller and drive it on as hard as you can. Then leave it. Next day try to tighten up a little more. Have seen real tight ones fly across the shop when they let go, might be an idea to attach a chain just in case. DFeeney
You might try to adjust the shoes inward away from the drums. Also a good soaking with spray WD-40 might loosen thing up after soaking for a while. The shoes rust to the drums and might have wear grooves in them which would tend to hold the drums on. Go Slow and easy but Brute Force might be required as needed.
Larry Schramm
I would use a 50:50 solution of acetone & automatic transmission fluid
m-mman
I would reinforce that you must use the correct puller. Not something that grabs the edge of the drum but one that pulls from the hub Something like this They are readily available. https://www.amazon.com/TruePower-20-2029-Universal-Hub-Puller/dp/B012P0QV5K/ref=asc_df_B012P0QV5K/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312177448019&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=874955710411332102&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031226&hvtargid=pla-448754390140&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=61495038909&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312177448019&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=874955710411332102&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031226&hvtargid=pla-448754390140
