Xander Wildeisen
Looking at a steering wheel on line, seller is unsure of the year of wheel. The cast numbers in the wheel are BH 854658 M-4 (tan) is anyone able to identify the steering wheel by those numbers?

TerryB
854658 Is the MoPar part number. I no longer have MoPar parts books going back that far but anyone who does should be able to identify the exact application. Given the part number begins with 8 it is most likely 1938 or 1939 era.
Xander Wildeisen
It is different from my 38 wheel. Looks like 38 Chrysler is a odd year for horn button and horn ring. I do not mind putting a 39 steering wheel on my car. As long as it fits the column. Looks like 39 went to a column shift? Is a 39 wheel hub the same for column shift, as the 38 wheel? Xander Wildeisen
Here is a 39 wheel, back of hub looks a little different from the tan one. In the size of the hub, going over the column. https://www.ebay.com/itm/275266618208?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Db9d030dab1da4150b3c2b6fc28eba8b3%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D265180155123%26itm%3D275266618208%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DChrysler&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Acd7afe4a-dded-11ec-a116-562168285e15|parentrq%3A06da92301810aae90d9ec8fdfffc904a|iid%3A11

Yes, I believe 1939 was column shift. I looked at a 39 brochure on line and it shows column shift.
TerryB
Look at eBay 1939 brochures, many show a pic of the dash. I have a 1939 Chrysler shop manual supplement but it won’t have any part numbers. The 1938 Chrysler shop manual is the base manual to use for 1939 along with the 1939 supplement.
Xander Wildeisen
The complete 39 wheel has bad cracks in it. The tan one is in good condition. And in another auction I can get the horn ring and center button. Just do not need to piece something together that will not work.
61polara
A word of caution---In the 1930's and 1940's Chrysler used a larger steering shaft on the 8 cylinder cars. Verify the verify the size of the hole in the hub compared to yours before you buy. Also in some years the hub is larger on the 8 cylinder cars as well.
Xander Wildeisen
Sent seller a question about hole size for steering shaft. That was the problem with the banjo wheel I bought. Not in a rush to get a steering wheel for a car that is sitting.
