Rock10
I saw a video where the guy rebuilt a later model distributor. He drove out the pin in the gear to free up the shaft. I have an old core to practice on but I can not get the pin to budge. I have drilled from both sides and it still won't move. Is the pin removable on the earlier straight 8 distributors? I don't want to wreck a good one. Thanks
EmTee
I don't know about the '36, but later ones I'm familiar with used a roll-pin that could be driven out using a hammer and punch.
Rock10
That's what I thought, but I can't get this one to move.
Ben Bruce aka First Born
Roll pins, I believe, are replacement. All originals I have seen are solid pins staked in. It has to come out, the gear and shaftbwere not machined from one piece of steel. When going back together, a roll pin is ok. Just use a good one. Not one from the rack at the parts store.
