Dave Paulson
I have a 1925 Dodge Brothers special touring. I just noticed that the screw on the back of the starter generator, used to adjust the amperage rate, was loose...actually falling out. I have repeatedly tried to re-insert it without any success. There does not appear to be anything into which it threads. Can anyone provide suggestions on re-inserting the adjusting screw short of tearing down the starter generator? The set screw next to the adjusting screw hole (see photo) is secure, so I have no problem with the amperage rate. Thanks! Any help is appreciated! Minibago
The top screw is that which moves the adjusting quadrant, the missing screw in your photograph is the quadrant / adjusting plate clamp. The screw should have a lock nut on the outside to lock against the body and a top hat like item on the inside with two flats which slide in the groove in the adjusting plate. I believe your external locking nut is missing and your internal clamping nut has fallen off and probably sitting in the starter genny somewhere. I recommend you dismantle and re-assemble back to correct before the missing part joins in the rotation and wrecks your unit. 😱
Mark Gregush
You might start by taking the band off and see if anything drops out. If there are parts that have come loose inside, they may be sitting in one of the openings.

RAH
Dave, You will need to remove the unit from the car. I have spare end castings and would be willing to make one a present for postage. Where do you live ? send me a PM. Rodger "Dodger"
Dave Paulson
Thanks…I was able to recover the “lost” nut and washer when I removed the end cap. 1
