leomara
Unfortunately, the pointer came off of this very nicely preserved gasoline gauge needed for my car. Does anyone know a way to fix this?
jiminyfixit
Not sure if you still need someone to repair this gauge, but I thought I would recommend a fellow that does this sort of thing VERY well. The name of his business is Abbott Instrument Restoration. He is in the Portland, Ore area, (Tigard, Ore). I visited his shop a year ago I got a full nickel tour. He actually used to work for me 40 years ago, when I had my shop in Tualatin, Ore. He and his son do amazing work on instruments His number is 503-246-1287. richard m
You might also check out Williamson's Instruments (www.williamsons.com). They advertise in Skinned Knuckles. They are in Chester, Arkansas.
prewarnut
Another option which could work is to consider a local jeweler. The pointer arm may be able to be laser welded. It won't look like a clump of solder or need a large patch to be cleaned either. The question is whether they'd be interested in this which is not within a jeweler's usual scope. A friend of mine has a machine so I get to play sometimes....
