8E45E
1947 Studebaker Champion 3-passenger coupe, (or Business Coupe) 1948's appear similar from the rear. Craig Edited June 7, 2021 by 8E45E (see edit history)
The 55er
I believe it's a 1947 Studebaker with the shape of those rear bumper guards and the fact that the picture is dated September 23, 1947. I don't see any other 1949 model cars in the whole picture.

The 55er
Starlight coupes had visibly more wrap around rear glass area than any of the cars shown in this thread.

Kind of difficult to tell with the car in the way. If only the photographer waited 1/2 second longer before taking the photo!! Craig

The Starlight coupe has 4 individual pieces of glass, vs. two for the business coupes. Craig

mike6024
The person who initially asked for an ID on this car had no idea what it was, and was commenting on how unusual it looked, and aerodynamic. Said the styling stood out from the others. I didn't know either, until I realized it looked similar to the one I saw being restored on this forum, though that was a starlight coupe, so similar but not a match.
