41 Su8
Looks like a Model T rear axle
wayne sheldon
I don't think it is model T. The bearing surfaces aren't right. The model T had roller bearings both inner and outer, both about four inches long. The bearing surface on the axle, both outer near the taper, and inner near where the gear goes, MUST be smooth and not have any step in the bearing area. Both areas look to me to have a slight step in them. The model T axles do have a step in them, between the machined bearing area and the unmachined area about a foot and a half long (I would have to go out to the shop to measure one for an accurate length?). The bearing running area is about five inches not including the taper and gear areas. The taper itself looks about right? As does the gear area and groove for the keepers. It could possibly be for a Chevrolet? They used a very similar internal rear end. Even gears and carriers can be modified slightly to use the other's parts. I am not familiar enough with the Chevrolet axles to know the details, but I have heard they are very similar?
