battery cable end

Most GM Spring-Ring applications are being reproduced and I think that's the way I would go. You'd have to have the spring clamp itself, a means of attaching the cable to the clamp and a mold to pour the lead into. The repop would be cheaper than all that.

Plus, even though your cable may look fine and even test good resistance-wise, it's still 30+ years old.

Have you tried YearOne.com? They don't specify color so you may have to call. Another source is Cars. If you come up empty let me know I'm sure I can find another source or two.

There used to be one cable that AC-Delco was still making for Buicks that was the original cable--and it was for '68 full size Buicks with the plastic square conduit where it went beside the engine on the way to the starter. To find it, you had to get in the back of the catalog where there was a picture of it with the part number. I don't recall it being in the regular listing, but it might be. I know it was there a couple of years ago.

the cable is red and has the no. 6290277 on it in white ink stamp. i had checked with a few buick vendors at carlisle and all they had was black replacements. i'm assuming it's original but don't really know. anyone have a 68 electra? i even looked through all the showcars at hershey. this is the only part that appears to be modifudged on a 32000 mile whale. thank again

I share your pain. I had a lot of difficulty finding one of these (same p/n) for my 70 225. NOBODY repops these, so save your money and start looking for NOS--they're pretty tough to come by, and unfortunately for us "big car" guys, the same cable is used on 455 A-bodies, so the GS guys want this part too! <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

There was one of these recently on eBay. I didn't see final bid.

You might try Jim Schlif (palbuick@aol.com), as he had one left, after I bought two of the three he had!
