Gronk
Hey guys, I bought a new lock cylinder for my 1952 Merc. I need to know how to remove the old one first. I've looked in books and manuels from that era but can't find instructions for that. So when all else fails I call on the masters for their knowledge
Frank DuVal
I am not familiar with this switch, but looking online for pictures it looks like the cylinder is held in the switch by a spring loaded pin perpendicular to the cylinder at the end furthest from the keyhole. With the switch removed from the dash, push in on the pin and slide the cylinder out. See the brass color pin in this picture. If I am wrong, someone else will answer, I hope!😉
Gronk
Thanks much Frank. This is the first time I've had to deal with something like this and don't want to cause unnecessary damage.

The key has to be turned to a particular position to push down the brass release pin. I think it is toward the left (accessory) position. If you use a paper clip to put slight pressure on the brass pin as you turn the key you will find the spot where it can be depressed and the lock cylinder can be pulled out.
