BearsFan315
This was in my spare parts and looking to ID what year this tire mounts works on, assume it it for trucks, as it looks to be an under bed type mount ?? most of what i have on hand in my spare parts it 1929 Chevrolet Stuff, but sometimes there are stragglers in there. sagefinds
It looks like a rear wire wheel spare carrier and may be for 29 Chevy which would make it a rare bird indeed.
BearsFan315
definitely not for 1929 Chevrolet, have 2 of those, one of which is on my care now. they are 3 pieces. maybe a 30 or 31 maybe 32 ?? 1929 Chevrolet Rear Spare Tire Mount Edited September 1, 2020 by BearsFan315 added photo (see edit history)
sagefinds
The spare carrier pictured on the back of your car is for a demountable rim off a wood wheel, not for a bolt in center wire wheel. The loose carrier pictured above is for a wire wheel and it appears it would bolt on place of the carrier on your car. True 29 wire wheels are scarce as hen's teeth, they look like a Model A wheel with six lug holes. Some people mistake 29 Pontiac wheels for 29 Chevy, they have a lockring and will work on the same hubs, but are not true Chevy wheels. The last real 29 Chevy wheels I've seen in the last twenty years were on a trailer at Chickasha about three years ago. There was only two,the owner wasn't there and there was a guy holding them waiting for the owner to get back so he could buy them. I think the 30 and 31 carriers are different,I'm no expert but after buying and selling parts for about the last fifty years, there is still a little in the memory bank about them. sagefinds
Or maybe not a rim from a woodspoke wheel on the back of your car but more likely a disc wheel.
BearsFan315
disc wheel is correct, most of the 1929 Chevrolet's had Disc wheels. Mine has the Disc wheels. i will check bolt hole locations on the rear of car to see if they match. Hans1
What is the circle diameter of the face where wheel would mount? Perhaps 6", 5 1/2" or other?
