From your picture it would appear that the ring gear is part of the flywheel. This was common on older vehicles. You will have to remove the flywheel and take it to a machine shop for them to turn off the old teeth and fit your new gear for you.

 Before you remove the flywheel from the crank, make sure to mark both parts, so that you assemble the flywheel back onto the crank in exactly the same position. This will ensure you don't upset the motors balance.
