Rich s
Hello, I am working on a cushman haulster with the 22hp engine and have been trying to figure out why the spark is weak? new points and condenser checked ballast resistor, its above the 1.60 ohms, not sure if its that or maybe the coils because spark is weak out of both coils. Isaiah
There is electronic units you may try . You may find them on ebay or any lawn and garden store should have them . if you get one that work’s on your motor you will never have point troubles. check the coil the points can be good but the coil may not. TerryB
When the points are open, check the voltage at the points. Should be about equal to the battery voltage. I’m not familiar with this unit, I’m assuming it has a conventional ignition system like an automobile using a battery and coil to make spark. If it’s a magneto system where magnets in the flywheel make a voltage that in turn makes spark, it’s possible the magnets are weak and need to be remagnitized. I’ve played with Vespa scooters and it’s necessary at times to get the flywheel magnets re-energized to make a hotter spark.

padgett
I have a Heathkit Ignition Analyzer (O'scope). Best way to test a points ignition is by the waveform.
