Thodav
Hello I have a 1955 Plymouth Savoy 4 door with a flat head six and the motor is on its last leg. Is there a crate motor with automatic transmission option that would fit and work well? I love the car and would like to improve drivability. I’d also like to know it there’s a bolt in modern front steering/suspension option available.
plymouthcranbrook
You might try posting on The Hamb site as most here usually prefer original drive trains.
JACK M
Anything is doable, But to my knowledge I don't think you will find anything 'bolt in'.
The 55er
Jack M is correct. Not a lot of aftermarket bolt-in support for 1955 Plymouths. Anything is possible though with a lot of time, money, skill and effort. The easiest thing to do would be to rebuild your original engine or replace it with another flathead 6 from a 1955 or 1956 Dodge or Plymouth. With a 1956 engine you will have to address the usual 6 to 12 volt electrical conversion stuff. I wish you well in whatever you decide to do.
