Guest
An English Grand Prix driver whose name escapes me. I think he died driving a Jaguar saloon in a road accident racing Rob Walker (probably in his 250 SWB Ferrari), an occurence that apparently bothered Walker for a long time. Guest
P.S. to above: Maybe Michael Parkes
ronbarn
My vote is Horch - definitely not a Marmon.
1937hd45
Horch 3.8 litre V8 from about 1939.
Dave@Moon
Undoubtedly it looks like a V-8 Horsch from 1935-36. The four-circle Auto Union crest is visible in the grille. All of the pictures I can find after 1937 show a 2-piece windshield. The only picture of a 1937 I could find was a convertible coupe with a 2-piece windshield.More puzzling, literally every picture of a Hosch four door I can find from the 1930's shows four suicide doors. Could this one be a special? Or is that not a door handle on the trailing end of the back door?
Guest
Oh my god!! A legitimate statement that isn't beating a dead horse or complaining about street rods.
fordee9r (Ron Springstead)
Oh my God! Another post from an unregistered, anonymous person who contributes nothing of interest to this thread!!!
ex98thdrill
Sure I do. It's just a matter of the computer booted me off and didn't post my name. I'm tired of beating the dead horse of people against street rods. I may not want them at an AACA meet, but they do have an interest in preserving a vehicle and they've had to fight against clunker legislation just as we have. I was just pointing out that for the first time a certain individual made a post that wasn't killing a horse for once.
fordee9r (Ron Springstead)
Sorry X98,As my post states, I thought yours was from anon-unreg. Had your login been posted, I would have picked up on the connection you made. Please accept my apology for this "friendly fire" incident.
ex98thdrill
No that's fine. In my case, I didn't even realize that I wasn't registered until I read your reply. Even if I did ruffle some feathers, I was man enough to own up to it.

Guest
I made the Michael Parkes guess. I now think it is Mike Hawthorne. The other driver is Damon Hill (I think), son of world Champion Graham Hill and a World Champion in his own right.
Guest
My guesses are that #3 is a Daewoo, and #9 is a Ford Model A.
Guest
Come on now. #9 is no Model A Ford. Look no further than the hub caps.

ex98thdrill
You might be right on the Chrysler thing. We've got a '31 Dodge that looks just like it, but I notice a difference in the style of the bumpers on that car versus our Dodge.
Dave@Moon
#9 looks exactly like a '31 DeSoto CF sedan pictured in Tad Burness's Monstrous American Car Spotters Guide. (Including the bumpers.)
