63 Front turn signal finned bezel color?

Question: on the front turn signal bezels are the fins left raw material color behind the front chrome edge? Or are they painted, gray or black to create a "shadow" look?

Anyone have an original set that may be able to pass on what they are supposed to look like?

I am sure others have used different paint products with good results as well. I used Rustoleum Matte Nickel 7277830. I think it was a pretty good match to the original. Cheap and available at local stores. I also used this on other areas such as the grille and on my headliner trim (I have 726 silver headliner and interior) with good results.

  Here are pics of an NOS example. The fins are painted both top and bottom. Hope this helps.
