nzcarnerd
Something of a mystery. The body sides are reminiscent of Studebaker around 1920 but nothing else matches. Hood louvres, hub bolts and radiator shape don't match Studebaker. Note also it has ten spoke front wheels.
lump
How about a Grant Six? I know that Grant Motor Car Co did export cars to New Zealand. In fact, my parents bought a 1921 Grant Six parts-car chassis over there in about 1960, and had it shipped here to our home in Ohio, USA. I have better photos on my computer at home, and will try to add them later.
lump
On second thought, that rear window on your subject car suggests Chandler, like the one in the photo below:
keiser31
Yep, but more like a 1919 Chandler by the horizontal line from hood to rear....
nzcarnerd
I guess it could be a Chandler. The make was sold in NZ. The hood louvres look right and the car in this photo I found has ten spoke wheels. A pity the radiator in the OP is not more visible.
brassclass
Definitely a Chandler. They used a distinct rear window that was shaped like the company's logo. Might also be a Cleveland (their budget make) but I don't know if they used the same kinf of rear window.
erichill
I say Chandler too. Rear window, hood line, front fenders and top of radiator all match that of Chandler from late teens. Mine is 1919.
