AHa
O.K. I have this double spare tire carrier but I can't figure out the bracket stuck on the back of it. Did it bolt to the frame side? This seems reasonable but it doesn't seem to be set up right. Anybody recognize it? Is it aftermarket? I got it with a bunch of Studebaker parts. 1912Staver
I have one that is extremely similar, perhaps identical. No idea what car it was from however the brackets strike me as more O.E.M. than accessory. I think they are intended to mount at the rear of the frame rails , one each side for rear mounted dual spares. Late teens, early 20's would be my guess. Mark Wetherbee
Ask the Studebaker group, I had a 1924 Special Six many years ago and the tire plate was nearly identical but I don’t remember the brackets other than the round pegs sticking out. There were grooves in the pegs where the bolts passed through making them left and right specific and keeping the plates from spinning if they rattled loose.
