Is this a 1930's motorcycle engine?

My uncle drug this home this evening. He liked it because it turns over and has good compression, only neither of us know what it's for. I guessed an old motorcycle engine that served a second life as a power unit for something else. It could be a later micro car engine for all I know. Thanks for looking at my pics. Any guidance is helpful.

It's some kind of two stroke engine. Could be from a motorcycle.

The carb is an AMAL Fischer used on many European motorcycles.

That is a Whizzer Motobike Model J motor. Dates to about 1948.

 

That would not have been the original carburetor (they used a Carter) but Amal carbs were very common on motorcycles and were often adapted to Whizzers.
