motoringicons
The Lincoln Zephyr was both one of the most handsome American cars of the 1930s as well as one of the most revolutionary. The 1936 and 1937 Lincoln Zephyrs were without a doubt one of the most dramatic presentations of art deco inspired design ever seen in an automobile. The three window coupe was introduced to the Zephyr line in 1937 and only 5,200 examples were built and sold. This extraordinary example was professionally restored in about 2000 and given significant cosmetic and mechanical upgrades in about 2010. The car has been shown at the Meadowbrook Concours, Glenmore Gathering and a few other select midwestern events. Today, this 1937 Lincoln Zephyr coupe is like new inside and out. This car was always a good, honest and solid car. The floor pans and trunk pan are excellent. The door, hood and trunk fit is proper and all of the body lines are crisp and clear. The overall fit and finnish and superb throughout. The gloss black paint shows virtually no wear and is in like new condition. On the inside, this car is fitted with the factory correct, leather upholstery option which was professionally restored at the time of restoration. The leather seat and matching door panels are nearly new looking. The matching tan headliner is properly installed and also looks like new. New, matching carpets have been recently made and show no wear. The art-deco dashboard has all of its proper gauges and controls. Everything works and the gauges have crisp and clear faces. The garnish moldings have been properly wood grained. Mechanically, this car runs as good as it looks. The V-12 engine starts instantly, idles smoothly and propels the car silently down the road. The car has been fitted with the desirable Columbia two-speed rear end which allows it to cruise with modern traffic effortlessly. The steering, suspension and brakes are tight and responsive. This car goes down the road without any rattles, creaks or groans. It really drives like a modern car. The engine bay is clean and well detailed. The firewall retains the original body tag (HB 720 1499) and the frame is clearly stamped with the VIN number of H31734 which, of course, matches the title.
