1935 1936 Chevrolet DeLuxe Ash Tray

I just realized I listed my posting in the wrong area. Duh.  I bought a glove box with the clock. I've restored the clock. It also has the hole for the ash tray which I would like to fill with the original part.  I don't know what kind of lock is required, other than the one I saw on Google and that was at some distance.

Smoking was almost an expectation when these cars were designed and built. I would imagine on cars that didn't order the ash tray option, they flicked there ashes and butts out the window. A good look at the side of most roads would indicate this habit has changed much in 75 years. Thanks for your response.

From contemporary reports I have read, even in the

1930's some people recognized smoking (and drinking)

as a dependency, an addiction.  Maybe your car's original

owner did not smoke.
