I can't make out the lettering,  tell us what it says please.  Is there a maker's logo?
Some possibilities;  Nash ambassador 8, '33-'41 had dual ignition with an Auto-lite cap, also some fire engines with 8 cyl. Lycoming engines,  V16 Cadillac or, Marmon  maybe?  Or Peerless  V16 (1 prototype in '31, not likely)

"38-'40 Cadillac V16's firing order was 1-4-9-12-3-16-11-8-15-14-7-6-13-2-5-10, so that eliminates those year Cadillac V16's, but leaves the earlier ohv 16 version to ponder.
Wish I could read all of the firing order on the cap, that might also eliminate the dual ignition Nash and fire truck 8's with 2 plugs to a cylinder.

Firing order is   1 8 9 14 3 6 11 2 15 10 7 4 13 12 5 16

Both black and brown caps are Delco

Both are used

Black cap has a scratch or track on the inside from 1 terminal

Brown cap has 1 tower repaired by glueing the chip back in place; chip is on the inside of tower.

Open to offers

I believe the '38-'40 Sixteens used two 8-cyl distributors.

I've repaired interior cracks on rare caps by (1) Dremel-drilling a shallow hole at each end of the crack to keep it from propagating, (2) applying about 5 single-stroke coats of epoxy fingernail polish, coats one day apart.
