John_S_in_Penna
Mr. MLL, my reference book, "Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946-1975," lists a wheelbase of 116 inches and an overall length of 201.8 inches. It does not happen to list the height or the width, but the width is undoubtedly less than 80 inches. A normal enclosed car trailer should be sufficient for a 1947 Mercury. Note that many better trailers will have a pass-door in the side of the trailer, aligned with the driver's door of the car. That pass-door makes it much easier to get out of the car without having to squeeze and shinny yourself out beside the car.
