1935 sixes vs 1937 sixes

Recommended Posts

I took the 37 engine D198738 to the machine shop for some work including replacing two studs that were apparently broken off, but if I am reading the SI  chassis parts catalog reprint correctly, this engine does not have studs on the outer most end of the manifold..  Is this correct? if so why?  I have an original 35 engine and it has studs on both ends of the manifold.  Ken, Deltaville, Va

Check over both motors.  I believe there are more differences. I parted out a 35 dictator and sold the motor because a couple guys were looking for a 35 block because of the differences on the castig where the clutch brackets mount.

Ken

Even the later Commander 6 engines did not have studs or bolts on

the ends of the manifold.

I have a complete engine for 1935 Dictator which was supposedly rebuilt and converted to 12 Volt starter.

It has the original aluminum head.

It is a hassle to mount a later engine in a 1935 unless you have the conversion kit that Studebaker supplied.

Lot of small differences.

I will make you a good deal on that engine.
