dl456
Hello, Well you learn something new all the time in this hobby. Installed a water pump in a 69 428 over the weekend. I knew Pontiac went to the 11 bolt pump about 68. I did not know that there is an early 69 with 3-1/2''shaft height and everything else at 4''. Naturally the belts don't line up and the shorter shaft pumps are discontinued and appear to be all gone. Even rebuilds. I can use this pump if I change the pulley and also change the harmonic balancer pulley. Didn't anticipate this. Anybody have any ideas where to look for this pump or been down this road before? Thanks in advance, Dennis
dl456
Sorry, Meant shaft heights at 3-21/32'' (4'') or 4-15/32'' (4-1/2'').
Rusty_OToole
Could you rebuild your old one, or have it rebuilt?

edhd58
Did they maybe change the water pump pulley depth so that if you use the later pulley with the later pump things will align? In 42 Ford used a double pulley on the pump but in 46 to 48 they use a single pulley. I am looking at going to a 12V generator with single pulley so I too am looking at pulley depths. Just asking cause I don't have a clue either.
dl456
I will rebuild the old one.Edhd,I could change the pulley but there are diameter differences (speed) and I would have to change theharmonic balancer pulley as well.Dennis
