MikeC5
My '25 Dodge Brothers touring car spare tire carrier has a provision for a padlock to deter theft. I'd like to buy a period lock but am not having much luck in dating the various antique locks I've found for sale. Any locksmiths out there that can help me out with a Yale or other common brand model number to look for?
Linus Tremaine
I would pick one like this. These were provided on my car to lock the spare tires on. At least, they are very very similar. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Yale-Towne-Bronze-Steel-Padlock-and-Originl-Key-Antique-Yale-Lock-/201368177516?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ee27a8b6c
Bud Tierney
There are antique/vintage lock and key collectors; I should think there'd be websites/forums for them under "antique lock collectors" or "padlock collectors" or such...they should be able to identify a number of padlocks from your period or immediately prior that would likely've been used on your unit......
